In ninth place is the rather distinctive Scottish Fold. Find yourself wondering where you might have seen one of these insanely cute kitties before? This could be down to the fact that singing superstar Ed Sheeran’s cat Calippo, featuring on the singer’s Instagram, is a great example of the breed who can be easily recognized by the folded ears. This breed is known for being especially loving towards their owners. Buying one for yourself is going to set you back anywhere between $200 and $3,000.

#8 Sphynx — up to $3,000.

At the number eight place, there is a cat breed that stands out from the rest. If you are looking for a cat like that, you cannot go wrong with a stunning Sphynx.

Noted for being a hairless breed, the Sphynx is one of the most instantly recognizable breeds in any animal species. Suppose you’re interested in getting a Sphynx. In that case, it’s essential to know they require a bit more special care and attention than regular cats. In return you will get a little bundle of joy. One special trait of Sphynx cats is that they are very vocal. You should not be surprised that you will find yourself feeling like you’re having a proper conversation with your cat. In my mind an experience well worth up to $3,000.

#7 Russian Blue — up to $3,000.

Number seven on my list is the Russian Blue. These beautiful cats are known for being incredibly playful, intelligent and curious. Which can make them quite a handful but also very much fun. These cats are famous for getting along with other pets and young children, which has resulted in making these cats exceptionally sought-after and thus valuable. Of course, their cuteness also helps in this respect. Ready to welcome a Russian Blue into your life? Then expect to pay a top-end price of up to $3,000.

#6 Peterbald — up to $5,000.

Peterbald cat

Halfway down the list we find the slightly rare Peterbald cat. This peculiar but wonderful breed results from experimental mating between a male Donskoy cat and female Oriental short hair. I am glad this experiment worked because the Peterbald is a real beauty that stands out from the rest. Just look at their ears; they must be able to pick up on all the secrets around them. Want one of these majestic, lively beauties in your life? Better be ready to spend somewhere in the range of $5,000 for a kitten.

#5 Persian — up to $5,500.

One of the most celebrated cat breeds globally, the Persian cat, is seen by many as the feline species’ ultimate example. The Persian cat’s distinctive facial features lead you to fall in love almost immediately. Their laid back relaxed nature means that the cat stays healthy from the start. As they are among the most popular breeds of cats, Persians don’t come cheap. If you are thinking of welcoming a Persian kitten into your home, you can expect to pay an average of $5,500 for one with a pedigree. I think that’s well worth the cost.

#4 Allerca hypoallergenic — up to $6,000.

The Allerca hypoallergenic cat

This cat is the result of dedicated research by the Lifestyle Pets Company, formerly known as Allerca.

Did you always loved to have a cat but couldn’t because of allergies? Then the Allerca hypoallergenic cat is for you. Through generational breeding, where specific genes were either disabled or deleted, Lifestyle Pets Company claims to have managed to create a breed of cat that no longer causes allergic reactions. This makes it possible for people to own a cat that previously where denied the pleasure due to allergies. Of course, not all are yet convinced that this achievement is real. Those who want to try whether their allergies are gone for good will need to fork out somewhere in the region of $6,000 for the privilege.

#3 Bengal — up to $25,000.

Next up, the Bengal with its distinctive wild-looking spots. Bengal cats are becoming a more common sight in today’s cat-owning society. What makes this breed incredibly valuable is its closeness to its larger, more dangerous ancestors. The Bengal breed is created by crossing domestic felines with Asian Leopard cats. The result is a fiery, excitable companion that loves nothing more than to bring you daily gifts from the garden. Actually, Bengals can be very formidable. So formidable that pet owners are even required to make sure that the cat they’re getting is no less than four generations removed from the original Leopard cat. Bengals have been known to go for as much as $25,000.

#2 Savannah — up to $50,000.

Meet our runner up, the fantastic Savannah cat. Like the Bengal, Savannah cats have a wild look and personality being a cross between a domestic cat and a much larger African wildcat called a Serval. Savannahs have often been compared more to dogs than cats in terms of their fierce loyalty. Thankfully, they still share the vital intelligence that cats have over most dogs, a genuinely extraordinary cat to see and own. A free-spirited but loyal Savannah kitten can set you back as much as $50,000 depending on the breeder’s status and the evidence of pedigree.

#1 Ashera — up to $100,000.

The Ashera cat

This is it. The most expensive cat breed globally is the sensational Ashera, known to be worth as much as $100,000. Ah, the common theme with the top spot on our list is definitely the hybrid factor, with the Ashera being a combination of all of the most valuable animals. We’ve already mentioned the African Serval, the Asian Leopard cat and a domestic house cat. Ashera’s are incredibly loyal, intelligent and very affectionate, making them the perfect pedigree companion. When looking to purchase an Ashera, one needs to be careful. The high prices asked for these cats can often lead to people selling Savannah cats, passing them off as Ashera’s. Once you’ve found a genuine Ashera, you should expect to be parted with around $100,000 for the privilege.

So there you have it. Ten of the world’s most expensive and sought after cat breeds. Are you a cat lover? Are you lucky enough to be the owner of one of these unique breeds? Let me know in the responses.
